Taking a class at Quiltuniversity

I am participating in a class called "inspired to design" by Elizabeth Barton at the Quiltuniversity. I love it. It takes some time to figure out how to do this; the class offers lots of way to find inspiration and to transfer it to a design that can be made as a quilt.

Here are some of my ideas

Back yard

Wood

Now I have to find the color and values to make the quilts. Hopefully I have some fabrics in my stash that are suitable!

Rust dyeing update

Yesterday I checked up on my rust dyeing project. I discovered that the fabrics that are in the shadows have been rustier than the fabrics in the sun – I had to pour some water on. I leave them for some more weeks.

Reading my new books

Yesterday I received two books. I started reading “The quilting arts book”. This is fun. A lot of ideas turn up in my mind; I had to find paper and start to write down my thoughts. It is a beautiful book. It has a lot of pictures and several techniques. I write more about this book later.

Rust dyeing

I am testing how to dye fabric with rust. I have a clever husband who is working with metals and he suggested some rusty items. I soaked fabric in water and vinegar, and wrapped it round the rusty iron items. Now I leave them outside waiting for the fabric to rust!
